Our Involvement

Towards a Responsible Tourism.

Azimuth Adventure Travel work with French Tour Operators who are labeled by ATR.

ATR (Agir pour un Tourisme Responsable – Act for a Sustainable Tourism) is the only label in France which guarantee the respect of different rules, aimed to more respect of the visited country, its environment, economy and population…

Like these tour operators, we respect all the commitments of the label, and also act directly in the development of a more sustainable tourism in Indonesia.

Our Philosophy

The Azimuth Concept

Azimuth Adventure Travel Ltd. is an Indonesia-based TO : the only TO completely specialized in trekking, hiking and volcanoes.

With 15 years experience, we are able to take you on the highest and most impressive mountains of Indonesia.

We do not operate like a traditional agency: apart from some very special trips, we do not offer fixed departure date. We also do not regroup travelers in a group.

You therefore are able to form your own group (couples, friends, family ...) and to travel at the dates of your choice: if you are 3 people, then you will travel only the three of you, and at the date that suits you.

We remain open to all proposals so do not hesitate to send us your travel ideas and special requests.

The Azimuth Adventure Travel Ltd. team.

The volcano Kawah Ijen watched closely!

This volcano is well known for its acid lake reputed to be the most acidic of the planet. In this moment, it shows signs of more intense activities…

Early in December, visual observations showed brown-white emissions with a weak pressure rising 50-200 metres above the crater. Between December 8th and 13th, harmonic tremor and 77 shallow volcanic earthquakes were recorded at the volcano. Due to an increase in seismicity and gas emissions, the alert level of Kawah Ijen was raised to 3 on December 18th by the Volcanological Survey of Indonesia (VSI). The access to the crater is closed and a 1.5-km radius security zone has been set up. This affects both visitors and sulphur miners.

Fortunately, Indonesia is the land of volcanoes and offers many other volcanoes where the climbs are still available...
